Dr. Aristeidis Farao 

Dr. Aristeidis Farao was awarded a Ph.D. in Advanced Cyber Security Solutions for Critical Infrastructure and Applications: Smart Grid and Cyber Insurance, in 2024 from the Department of Digital Systems of the School of Information and Communication Technologies of the University of Piraeus that was supported by the European Security and Defence College. 

Since 2016 he has been a member of the Security Systems Laboratory (SSL) of the University of Piraeus. He has participated and contributed to research projects funded by the European Union (SealedGRID, SECONDO, INCOGNITO, SPIDER, LOCARD, ENTURST, aerOS) and the Greek government (NETPHISH). In addition, he has experience as a Cybersecurity Analyst working in the private sector, where he participated in the design and development of advanced critical infrastructures with high security measures. 

He has authored and co-authored scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals and conferences and co-authored book chapters. He has more than 245 citations in his published work. In addition, he is a reviewer in peer reviewed journals such as: a) IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management, b) Computer & Security, Elsevier, c) International Journal of Information Security, Springer Nature, d) Computing, Springer Nature, e) Peer-to-Peer Networking and Applications, Springer Nature, f) Telecommunications Systems, Springer, g) Discover Applied Sciences, Springer Nature, h) IEEE Networking Letters, i) IET Information Security, j) Computer Science, PeerJ, k) Cogent Engineering, Taylor & Francis Online, l) Security and Communication Networks, Hindawi, and in international conferences such as: (a) SecAssure ‘22, (b) ARES ‘22, ‘221, (c) ESORICS ‘22, ‘20, ‘19, (d) Cyber-Physical Security for Critical Infrastructures Protection ‘20. He has also served as a member of technical committees in international conferences such as: a) IEEE EuroS&P ’24, b) IWAPS ‘23, ’22, c) IWSECC ‘22, ’21, d) CTSS ‘22. 

Moreover, he has been Member of the organising committee of 4th IWAPS ’24. He has been a member of the IEEE community since 2022 and a certified Chief Inspector of Information Security Management Systems according to ISO 27001:2013 by TÜV Hellas (TÜV AUSTRIA) since 2017. His research interests lie in the areas of security economics, cyber insurance, digital systems security, network security, application security, security in Smart Grid Networks, authentication, applied cryptography, and AI/ML in cybersecurity.
