A New ESDC Logo

In 2025, the European Security and Defence College celebrates its 20th anniversary. With this milestone in mind, the ESDC has a new logo symbolising its commitment to excellence in training and education within the context of CSDP and CFSP. Simplicity, symbolism and elegance define the new design. While embracing a timeless yet modern style, the new logo honours our heritage by retaining the central symbols of the old logo:

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 – symbolising knowledge and learning.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 – representing security and defence

The juxtaposition of these two symbols reflects the fact that training and education is vital to the creation of a common European security and defence culture. In an innovative and out-of-the-box approach, the icons of the book and the shield merge into a single shape. By incorporating the European Flag, the logo aligns with the visual identity of the other European institutions and bodies.

We express our deep gratitude and admiration to the Publications Office of the European Union for their outstanding work in creating this emblematic design. Their technical expertise and artistic vision has ensured that the new logo elegantly embodies the values and aspirations of the ESDC while maintaining consistency with the ESDC’s European institutional identity.
