The first edition of this course was organised under the aegis of the ESDC by the Försvarshögskolan - Swedish Defence University and the Ukrainian Boryviter Center of Excellence. 25 officials (civilian and military) from Member States, EU institutions, bodies and agencies, particularly those involved in operational planning, analysis, crisis management and the application of advanced technologies in defence, participated.
Ukrainian experts shared their insights and expertise, and added significant value to the training. They explored the integration of advanced data analytics, AI and machine learning into dynamic defence environments, with a focus on Ukraine's experience in adapting NATO frameworks and operationalising lessons learned.
This intensive multi-day programme was designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to face the complex challenges of learning, adapting and innovating during high-intensity conflict. The course combined theoretical foundations with practical group work and scenario-based exercises inspired by real-world cases from the ongoing unprovoked war of aggression by Russia against Ukraine.
The ESDC would like to thank the course directors from the Swedish Defence University and the Boryviter Center of Excellence of Ukraine for the
organisation of the course, as well as the Ukrainian and NATO Joint Forces Command experts for their contributions and support. The ESDC also thanks all participants for their active involvement.
As we look ahead, the ESDC will continue to deepen cooperation and mutual learning, applying valuable experiences to address our shared challenges together.
